Share

Beginning today, seven new Climate CoLab contests are open and seeking proposals until September 10, 2017.

Winners will be invited to MIT, join the Climate CoLab winners’ alumni, and be eligible for the $10,000 Grand Prize—to be selected from among winners across all seven contests. All award Winners and Finalists will receive wide recognition and platform visibility from Climate CoLab.

Below, we outline how these contests fit into our larger vision for Climate CoLab, as well as features of the contests.  We look forward to seeing your proposals and comments on the platform!

APPROACH FOR 2017

Climate CoLab is an open problem-solving platform to engage thousands of people in building detailed and actionable plans that can effectively address climate change.

These seven contests seek proposals that can create the building blocks for these plans.

Read more about our approach.

SUBMIT PROPOSALS

Strong climate plans require a broad set of action, and both innovative ideas and best practices.  Therefore, these contests seek proposals for:

  • All categories of action;
  • Specific projects as well as general practices;
  • For any implementer;
  • For any part of the world.

Read more about the types of proposals.

ESTIMATE YOUR PROPOSAL’S IMPACT

Work with Impact Assessment Fellows to estimate your proposal’s impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions or climate risk.

ENGAGE

Use the platform to network, comment on other members’ work, and even join other proposal teams.

Support your favorite proposals on the platform and share them with your networks. During the voting period, cast your vote to help them win their contest’s Popular Choice Award. Get involved.

EVALUATION

The contest’s judging panel—issue-experts in the field—evaluate entries on
a set of predetermined criteria, and identify awardees.

WIN

Top proposals in each contest will be awarded:

Judges’ Choice Award – Two Judges’ Choice Awards* will be selected: 1 practice & 1 project
Popular Choice Award – Received the most votes during the voting period

The Judges’ Choice Award and Popular Choice Award Winners will be invited to MIT, (see prior Climate CoLab Conferences), join the Climate CoLab winners’ alumni, and be eligible for the one $10,000 Grand Prize—to be selected from among the winners across the contests.

All award Winners and Finalists will receive wide recognition and platform visibility from MIT Climate CoLab. Climate CoLab or its collaborators may offer additional awards or recognition at their discretion.

* Judges’ Choice Award(s) are allocated at the Judging panel’s discretion. In rare cases, the Judges may choose not to select awardees.
