Changes in Creative Commons License 4.0

Climate CoLab is excited to announce a new development that will help protect the ideas of proposal authors! Creative Commons recently released a new version, and we want to be sure we’re up to date. Climate CoLab will switch from Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike version 3.0 to 4.0.

How will this affect Climate CoLab members?

Not much was changed in the new version. However, there are three changes you should be aware of:

  1. In 4.0 you need to indicate whether or not you have modified the material and retain previous versions of the material prior to modification.
  2. In 3.0 you had to supply the title of the original material, but sometimes titles are not always given. In 4.0, you are encouraged to supply a title of the original material if it is given.
  3. In addition to this, 4.0 requires that you indicate that the material is under the public license, and include url hyperlink to the original material and the license. (One hyperlink can include both.)

If you have any questions about the Creative Commons version change, please email us at or view details of the changes here.

* Climate CoLab will be updating the Creative Commons version on our website soon.
