The National Science Foundation (NSF) is supporting a proposal submitted by the Climate CoLab.
The proposal was submitted to NSF’s Social-Computational Systems (SoCS) program.
SoCS is a program adminstered by NSF’s Division of Information and Intelligent Systems (IIS).
The proposal was entitled “The Climate Collaboratorium: A Tool for Large-Scale Model-Centric Collective Decision-Making.”
The NSF grant will provide one year of funding for the project.
The Climate CoLab seeks to harness the collective intelligence of thousands of people around the world to address global climate change.
Inspired by systems like Wikipedia and Linux, it is a global, on-line forum where people can create, analyze, and select detailed plans for what to do about climate change.
Anyone in the world is welcome to participate in the Climate CoLab at http://www.climatecolab.org.
